Monash and Kaladin are quite similar: rank, skill, tragic backstory. But there is one way they are profoundly different: the nature and speed of thier raducalizing event.

For all that Lirin is a good man, Kaladin also understands that his father is imperfect. Lirin stole the money from the estate of hid dead friend. Yes, the money was a small sum, Yes, it had been verbally promised, and Yes, it was suppose to be invested back into the community in the form of a better trained free doctor. But even Lirin understood it was a fucked up thing to do. And that made Lirin an active participant in everything that followed. Lirin refused to leave and take his family out of danger, he didn't try to smooth things over. Instead, he threw his family into a game of wills with a petty man with power. It is incredibly fucked up what Rashom did to lirin by drafting his thirteen year old son. But that was and escalation in an ongoing war of wills that Lirin, had been fighting for years.

Tien's death is Kaladins seconds betrayal, but that comes at the hands of a petty dark eyed Sargent. It's Kaladins third betrayal, at Amaran's hands that really starts to enrage kaladin. Then as a slave kalidin leads more than half a dozen escape attempts where everyone is killed but him. So kaladin has already learned that thoughtless action is more likely to hurt those you love than your enemies.

And no matter what happened to Kaladin, his parents were safe, if uncomfortable, at home.

Moash never had that nuance. As far as Moash knew, his grandparents only crime was to financial exsist near Rashom. His grandparents provided luxury goods to rich and never hurt anyone. Moash left them to go off and had adventure as a caravan guard, but he thought they were safe at home the whole time. He returned to an empty house and dead parrents. He returned to a gross misscarage of justice. As fair as Moash knew, his grandparents had no way to escape or back down before being imprisoned by the king.

Moash's first betrayal came in an instant. Kaladins happened over thousands of days.

I dont excuse Moash's actions but I will say that his lack of agency in his own trama would lead him to belive that the world owes him justice and that being an active participant will save him from the worst harm.

Kaladin doesn't have that illusion.

Does anyone else spend to much time think about how the fiscal policy of most of Rosharan governments must differ from our own due to the fact that they are on a universal currency.

A goverment can't issue money to pay bills, hyperinflation isn't as much of a thing.

So many financial shenanigans are just eliminated.

The closest Roshar has to mints are glass blowers and gem cutting. Even if there is a large influx of raw gemstones, there will be a delay before tha wealth enters the economy because those raw gemstones need to but cut and then enclosed in glass. The eneling process takes at least 12 hours. They would have some of the same issues with slowed growth as the a gold standard but that might still help combat natural inflation

I dont even known how counterfeiting would work.

Money changes as a job would be eliminated.

And your money would double as your lamp which means your money has a usefull application outside of trade.

Rosharan probably use a heavilr grade of cloth for purses and pockets just to trap in the light.

On that note, I bet Rosharan art restoration is easier than our art restoration just because it's been exspoded to less soot.
