“...difficulty however was always a challenge to william;
and he wanted joan back, he liked joan
she was quiet and shy, and amenable, and dependable
and he was a god in her eyes.”
This week's music recommendation: Great Dane - Cosmo Pyke
Spent so much time trying to decide what to recommend that I didn't recommend anything. So picked this song which is an all time favourite for me and the song that introduced me to Cosmo Pyke, this whole album is really nice.
It starts off with a bit from an old audio book (that I've looked up thinking I'd listen to the book but couldn't get into it and just listened to this song again) but it's a perfect introduction to this song bc it's really a story and not just in lyrics but also the instrumentals. It's down to earth like a late warm afternoon or early autumn evening. There's a bunch of breaks where the beat stops for a second and it gives a lot of time to breathe which you need at times bc then Cosmo suddenly rhymes off very fast. The guitar is also a big charming point that swings you along in a lazy dance without balance. I'm not always a fan of Cosmo Pyke's lyrics (his personal opinion on women or just the way he describes them) but gosh it works so well and you don't get tired of the chorus.
I've listened to this while lying halfway on the floor after failing to do homework and when tirelessly putting away dishes when no one's home to see me saunter around, but also swaying to the chill beats while painting late at night. Just,,,turn your brain off a little.
