Sometimes you just *can't* get fabric swatches and just have to order the fabric following your gut instinct as best you can. I'm happy to say that this time it worked out, and not only did I get the color combo I need for this commission, but the trim and gold fabric matched perfectly despite coming from two different company on opposite coast! so, I had this wired ripping fabric in my stash that mimicking the look of the blue I got. Its a bit stiffer, but I decided to use it for a mock-up. Running a test on fabric paints for the #shadeofblue costume. Since I picks a shrot pile poly upholstery velvet I'm limited to mostly fabric paints and not dyes to get the patterns on the fabric Some I've water down, other are straight out of the bottle. These aren't the colors I'm going with, I'm just testing with what I have on hand.
