This is my first post in english, and my first tutorial; I decided that I will (try to) post everything double and translated for the 2 language that I speak.
I forgot I did this whole photo progression when I was making my starglobe, so have a tutorial or sorts I guess?
Materials used were:
Foam board
Toothpicks
Worbla
Black,white and gold acrylic paint
And not featured, accent plastic jewels.
This was my first time working with worbla, so if you do this, I suggest doing the whole sanding a sealing with gesso method to make it look better, but I was way too lazy for that. It looked fine in the end.
Okay! Going to be doing alot more updating now! I wanted to also share my process for Link's Breath of the Wild Bow! 1. I glued a few layers of pink insulation foam together to the desired thickness I wanted for the thickest part of the bow. Then I traced the shape I wanted the bow to be. 2. I roughly cut out the shape with a Foam Factory wire foam cutter, leaving some room where I made my markings. 3. And 4. I then I smoothed it down and also cut down the sides to the desired shape and sanded, and sanded, and sanded, and sanded. I sanded so much. I also used a sharp knife to whittle it in a sense as well. 5. A wooden dowel and foam were used to make the connecting hand hold for the bow. Corresponding holes were made into the top of the bow to go into. 6. The bows there then coated in wood glue and then wood filler, which protects the foam from chemicals that could melt it as well and the wood filler smoothes even more than the foam and fills in any gouges made. 7. I coated them in a clear coat. You can choose matte or gloss, I wanted them to be a bit more matte. 8. Then the pieces were painted brown. 9. For the bow tops I made a ball of clay and pressed it onto the tip of the bow for an exact fit. Then I constructed the little toppers in craft foam. 10. All the gaps were filled in with wood filler and sanded. 11. Tips were painted with Liquid Leaf silver. 12. Tips were added and the blue-green accent paint was added. 13. And 14. I wrapped a leather cord around the top to help the seam between the bow and tip be hidden, as well as add some more color. 15. Then, using screenshots I did my best to cut out the design for the bow fronts in craft foam. Using layers to create depth. 16. The parts were attached to the bow with hot glue. 17. I checked to make sure each side matched as well as the could. 18. The craft foam was primed and painted silver with Liquid Leaf. 19. And 20. Both sides were attached to the pole and voila! The middle needs to be repainted but otherwise it's all done!

Bill shows how to cut intricate details in foam for your costume and prop making needs!
What’s this? It’s a great tutorial on how to do detailing in foam! This site overall looks like a good resource for any cosplayers who are interested in props! Go give it a gander. =D
