HOOVES Q&A TIME? Every time I post a costume that involves hooves (or talons, in progress!), I get lots of questions/messages from people. So here's a bunch of answers, but if not answered here, I'll try to answer more! 🌮 How do you make them? For the ones I made myself, I used well made platform boots, removed the heel, & made the platform larger. 🌮 Are they hard to walk in? Not if you make them correctly! It does help if you're accustomed to wearing heels, just because your body understands shifting your balance & posture more from experience. Or just practice a lot. 🌮 Do they hurt? If they hurt--STOP WEARING THEM. They absolutely shouldn't hurt. If your feet hurt, they aren't supportive enough. If your ankles hurt, you risk major sprain or break. If your legs hurt, you may need a little more exercise. 🌮 ...Exercise? STRONK LEGS & ANKLES! I learned years ago that standing with your legs bent (not needed for all of these costumes, but proper for Draenei) means the next day your thighs will be in rough shape. I found working out (running, stair climbers, running/hiking up steep hills) will get your legs in super shape for it. You REALLY want stronger ankles, if your ankle gives out in these you absolutely will sprain or break it, not to mention the damage from a fall to the rest of your body. If you aren't feeling strong, don't risk it. 🌮 Slippage? You gotta make sure the bottom of your hooves are slip-proof, for obvious reasons. Even if the shoe has a rubber bottom, I'll glue on non-skid tape. I need full grip for security! 🌮 Will you make a tutorial? Yeah, I plan to! I didn't for my current costume since I'm reusing the ones I made for my Draenei, but the next time I make these things I will! 🌮 Why tacos? Because the world needs more tacos.
