I actually managed to finish a cosplay this year amidst the chaos of school! You may recognize this from halloween when I had it about halfway done. Everything was made from scratch minus the socks! "Though I know I should be wary" And my first of the Halloween looks I'm making this year is done! Beetlejuice was my favorite cartoon as a kid and I did a horrible attempt with a blanket and a sharpie for the very first con I ever went to, but I always wanted to go back and do it right! When my @beetlejuicebway obsession hit I knew it was time. I wanted to do the animated series costume but I wanted to add some of the textures that the Broadway costumes have, so I made the cloak out of a raw silk dupioni to give the red a bit of depth, and did the spider web patterns with venise lace dotted with 100 tiny rhinestones. Super simple rolled hem tutorial for you! I'm not the most experienced seamstress, but I'm self-taught and somehow manage! 😂 Wanted to share this for everyone who's asked for more sewing tips.⁣ ⁣ Mine ended up a bit wider than I wanted, closer to 3/16" when I intended 1/8". The fabric I used is a slippery Chiffon, and will be for a sheer tunic-dress- thing for Venusaur. Chiffon is a notoriously finicky and difficult to work with fabric, but sometimes that's what ya need for your cosplay!⁣ ⁣ A rolled hem is possibly the most standard way to hem this material.
