God of Night headcanons - Counter Verse
Night is the oldest and most powerful of all the Gods. Born before existence, and after the eventual heat death of the universe when every atom has blinked out of existence, Night will remain.
Confident, charming, self-assured; Night is a God who knows what he wants and gets it. It's inevitable. There may be hiccoughs, bumps in the road, but in the end, Night always gets his way.
Night holds some respect for the other Elder Gods. They are at the least close to his level, while non-Elders are seen as children. So young and yet so arrogant, as though they know everything. Not to mention dependent on humanity's progress.
To call Night himself arrogant is ignorant. Yes he has a very high opinion of himself, but it's not unfounded. While others may disagree with him, question his methods, be angered by him, hate him; Night's word is law. To go against him is to invite your own destruction.
To Night, humans are like animals. Domesticated creatures that are a cute distraction but soon enough (in a few billion years) they will be gone, so there's no point getting too attached.
Rumour says that Night's true domain is that of Absence, "Before all else there was unending darkness. That darkness has since become the Night" but the truth is no one knows the true reach of Night's domain. Night is stronger when the sun goes down, can hide in any shadow, and claims responsibility for every dark thought (absence of hope) to name a few.
It's said that Night's touch can corrupt the very world around you if he should so choose.
