Just by chance we found an opportunity for a slight detour that we thought would be worth the look. In 2014, we visited the Grand Canyon, so of course we needed to see the Little Grand Canyon in Shawnee NF near Pomona, IL (kinda in the middle of nowhere). While we were hoping for a nice scenic outlook, we instead got a 3 mile, rugged hike into the canyon itself.
