And yes that is the full name per the Gretsch website! By at least 75 characters, the longest #guitar model name I have ever had to type! Let's just call it a #CountryGent 12 String for short, shall we? 😂 . Anyhoo...thanks as always to Ian for loaning me this interesting mouthful of a guitar. For #WalnutWednESday here’s a shot of the way things used to be around Casa #DeeBeeUs™ back at the end of 2016, including the first #Gretsch #guitar I ever bought, a 1972 #CountryGentleman. People disparage 70s Gretsches but this one sounded superb. It just had a slight tendency to neck dive which I just could not learn to live with, so I sold it. #ToneHenge™ 2016 consisted of the 1965 #Fender #Vibrolux Reverb (on an @atlasstands ampstand), with a 1957 5F1 #Champ on top (now in the collection of @the_damo_experience), plus a 1963 Fender #DeluxeReverb (behind the #CountryGent) and a 2012 #Marshall 50th Anniversary #JTM1 C 1 watt amp - both of these were sold to fund new acquisitions 😕. Thats the cute little Mack Amps “Gem” 4/0.4 watt on top of the Marshall. Still have that one. PS: the pedalboard is also by @atlasstands. Made from antique North Carolina tobacco sticks, which were used up until the 1970s to hang tobacco leaves from barn rafters to dry! With the warming weather, the days one can comfortably wear tweed is slowly coming to a close. 1964 #Gretsch #CountryGentleman in original custom-ordered factory black finish from the collection of @moreguitar. This is one of the most interesting and rare guitars I have ever seen. Other than it being a different colour from pretty much every other #CountryGent in the world, you may have noticed that is has a bunch of extra switches, which are part of the “Project-O-Sonic” stereo system. Thanks to @skyranger42 for the details of how it worked: the pickups are split in half (E-A-D and G-B-E) so you can send them each to a different amp. The switches ahead of each volume control are the tone switches for each side of the pickup. The top switch chooses between stereo and two mono amps, and the switches on either side of the Bigsby control the mutes. @moreguitar says it “takes some configuring to use live”.
