“Huh?” Courfeyrac blinked and turned to look at Enjolras, not even realizing that he had been staring at all. He shook his head, cheeks flushed as he gave him a little nudge with his shoulder. “You know it’s not like that, Enj, ‘Ferre’s...he’s a friend. But you’re different, you know that, I like you way more than just that.”
“are you drunk?”
“Mm, nooo.” Courfeyrac drew the word out, however, and the flush to his cheeks left no question. He’d only had a few, or at least he thought he had, and he was grinning as he looked up at him. “Maybe a bit, but not super drunk, ‘jolras.”
“You look so… empty. I’m worried for you, please talk to me.” (Ferre)
“You’re always worried about me, ‘Ferre, that’s hardly odd.” Courfeyrac mumbled quietly, stirring his coffee and watching the scream as it made little swirls in the dark liquid. “I’m fine, it’s just been a rough week or whatever, you don’t have to get that look on your face.”

Courfeyrac stirred almost immediately at the sound of her voice, frowning and rubbing at his eyes as he sat up.

☽ — a memory of their father
When he was young, he remembers going to the beach. It’s one of his first memories, honestly, and his brother was there and their father had taken a whole two weeks off to go to their beach house with them. He played with them, taught them to make sandcastles and everything, everything was warm and happy and perfect, he likes to think back to that to remember when things were okay and he would just buy them ice cream and stay up late to see the stars with them and everything he was told father’s were supposed to.

My muse has suddenly sprained an ankle and can’t walk.
“You don’t have to carry me home or anything, ‘Parnasse, I’ll be fine.” Courfeyrac tried to protest, although his voice was shaking as he tried to push himself to his feet. Of course Montparnasse had to be there when this happened, he would’ve been fine if someone hadn’t shoved him and he’d wound up hurting his ankle. Of course, they hadn’t stopped to help, just laughed with some rather choice words.

“Cosette, I didn’t hear you come in-” Courfeyrac quickly shoved the needle under his blanket, although he knew she’d seen it already and there was no talking his way out of this. But he also couldn’t let her tell everyone about it, he knew it was wrong, and Combeferre and Enjolras thought he’d finally managed to stop. “Wait, I can explain, it’s not...it’s nothing. I mean, it’s something, but it’s not like that.”
