I never considered that not everyone knows about Juliette Gordon Low, Savannah, GA native.
Juliette Gordon Low was the founder of the Girl Scouts, which is just about the greatest organization is the world and way better than the homophobic Boy Scouts.
She divorced her husband when he had an affair, but also got compensation from his estate after he died after she sued for it.
With his money, she traveled around Great Britain, where Boy Scouts had already been established, later to return to Savannah and start the Girl Scouts.
She was sassy and loving towards children and animals, but not necessarily domestic, never having children of her own. She was super athletic. When she was older and they told her she couldn't go down the stairs at her house anymore, she was known to slide the banister instead!
Basically she was a spitfire who saw that young girls at the turn of the century could use community efforts to learn skills beyond what they were taught at home and at finishing schools.
