So exhausted from carstuff
So exhausted from carstuff
These last 6 weeks have been highly stressful and exhausting. I have been chasing different companies almost daily requesting updates to something they don’t seem to care about.
6 weeks ago my car was hit on the road at an angle which made it appear as if someone had reversed out of my driveway straight into my car and left yellow scrapes along it.
The same morning I had a courier package delivered from CourierPost so putting two and two together came to the thought that it had been the Courier driver.
Even including the 4 weeks I did not have my car back from the Howick Panel and Paint panel beaters and was receiving no updates at all from ASB Insurance or the panel beaters, I have been emailing and ringing people constantly to the point of mental exhaustion, it’s been so tiring dealing with companies.
The NZ Police had also apparently investigated it however came to no conclusion, I asked them for more information and they ended up fobbing me off completely in a harsh toned email. I don’t understand how they expect us to respect them when they clearly aren’t honest with the amount of investigation they actually do.
All in all I can’t prove anything, it’s been 6 weeks since the accident which will have given the courier driver plenty of time to repair his van. I managed to get a final call with CourierPost management early this week and it became apparent that the insurance company AND the police did not even ask them to take a photo of the van accused of being in the accident, I don’t understand how anything could be investigated without any evidence and it goes to show that these things are all dealt with by word of mouth within these companies with no actual proof required.
I also realised that the insurance company had advised CourierPost that the yellow truck in my driveway WAS the courier truck that caused the damage to CourierPost when I hadn’t told them that at all, it belonged to a neighbour and didn’t cause the damage. No wonder it was so easy for CourierPost to say “no” and not have to take any photos of anything if the insurance company was accusing the wrong vehicle of the damage, of course the truck didn’t belong to them.
This whole process has been lengthy and a total letdown from the Police and my Insurance company relating to an actual investigation properly done for a hit and run. If they had asked the courier company for photos straight away and shown no damage to the van then I could have put this behind myself and moved forward with life, however because of the vague information I keep receiving from all parties, I have been exhausting my efforts and energy in trying to locate the cause of the damage, when you are paying an insurance company like ASB to do things on your behalf, you believe they would do it properly, to request evidence, to not accuse a company of owning a truck which was clearly not a courier van. The whole process has been a total letdown and I’ve been left very stressed out and tired from it all.
I think for my own mental health now, I need to just write this off, pay my $400 excess, lose my no claims bonus and try and move on from it all, this has not been good for my own wellbeing and I believe the stress of it has impacted negatively my own relationships as well as I have just not had the energy to deal with much else. This sort of thing just creates a black hole within yourself that sucks all life from the surroundings, how can you trust the companies you deal with when you are very aware they do sub-par work to even look into something.
Time to look ahead and try and forget this whole ordeal, time to regain energy and improve my mindset once again, time for a time out.
