Reposting this on it's own just because I want to really... Anyway, once again here are Talia and Leona paying tribute to to a friend gone much too soon. I may be rejecting JC's canon for my own story but I can't deny what's happened is major and I couldn't not address it somehow. This has torn my heart in two and has irrevocably changed how I'll be approaching the game going forward, wands up for our best friend.

honestly bless you for being so rational but still optimistic. i appreciate your perspective in this fandom so much! i do hope the writers realize what a giant mistake they've made based on the reactions

Thank you! It’s wonderful to know that you’re enjoying my thoughts and that I’m not being overly irritating! (I do always wonder...) 

I think one of the exciting (but also horrendously frustrating) things about being a soap fan is that, as a continuing drama, a soap depends on its audience for survival. Now, other shows obviously do that but there comes a point in the series where a producer is able to say ‘fuck it - show’s ending. I do what I want’.

A soap has to keep the same audience coming back every day or it loses its primary function - advertising. So, this gives me a little hope that a production team may be more responsive to a group of people saying ‘we want to see this story’ than another tv show with a limited number of episodes would. 

We’ve talked before in fandom about how jarry was born out of audience interest in them. Now we’ve seen what they can do with these characters when they decide that their relationship is worth exploring. While most people seem to think that this about-turn was planned to be something long-term and motivated by one or two people’s intervention - I don’t know if that’s a good enough reason to make a long term change that is clearly unpopular with the audience. (No matter how much the HO social media team try to make out that jarry comments are a small portion of reactions to this sl). 

Full disclosure - I don't work in tv. I don't really know what I’m talking about here. This is just my instinct. But honestly, I can’t imagine how relieved I’ll be (and how excited for more character development) if any of the possible fix-its I’ve come up with show on screen. That’s why I think jarry are worth hanging on to - and long term. Greg and Parry’s work has been excellent and I can’t help that feel like I owe it to them to let HO that I want to see more of it. 

And I really can’t process the idea that Ste/Kieron would think that more starry is a good idea when they could just employ someone new and mould him to be the perfect lover for him - but that’s another post...

I mean, just because we all know that there’s an impending disaster doesn’t mean that we should have all been tearing our hair out over the weekend. And I’m not being dishonest about my feelings: my position has always been that I think the production team knows that jarry is the better couple and even if they have plot reasons for splitting them up that split will be temporary (though it may be long). 

You can only be responsible for your own reaction to things and being calm about something is a choice - as is freaking out about it. 

And there’s no saying that the first look might also be highly enjoyable. Harry’s rejecting Ste? Yes, please. Jarry having a heartbreaking split as they both realise that James is not mentally fit to be in a relationship right now? Sign me the fuck up. James tearfully begging Harry to stay and Harry crying because he doesn’t want to go but knows he has to for both their health? Love it!

I’m not saying that I think these things will happen - but I am saying that the thought that they might is keeping me entertained for now. I’ll worry about canon when we have it (and even then, I won't because I still can’t watch live...)
