COURTNEY'S NEAT QUESTIONS
One of my bestest friends ever, Courtney (go follow her she's cool), had these questions in response to my MYSPACE CHAIN MAIL thing and I liked them so...I'm going to answer them.
1. What’s your favorite book and why?
Well, I've answered this several times, but I'd have to pick The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. It's cute, it's funny, and it's beyond clever. It doesn't just make you laugh, though- it makes you care about those characters, and despite how cheesy and hilarious some of the situations become, you want them to be okay. You want Arthur Dent to be happy. It's beautiful and everything I love about books and writing and just a good god damn story. Douglas Adams was a masterful writer and I hate the fact that he had to pass before he could finish just one more book...but that's life, I suppose. :(
2. Do you believe in karma? Why or why not?
I don't necessarily believe in karma in a spiritual or sort of "law", but I DO believe in it. If you do your best to treat others with respect and love, they'll do the same out of respect for that, I think- and those that would go out of their way to be mean to someone who tries their best to be nice to everyone are quickly attacked by others (in my experience, at least...there's been a few times when others are like "hey stop fucking with Gary" before I can even respond). If you're a dickhead, people are...not going to like you, and that makes people more likely to be a dick right back to you!
3. Who is someone you look up to in your life and what have they taught you?
There's many inspirations that have influenced me to make me the bear I am today, but if I had to pick one major one- Mr. Rogers. He didn't teach me anything about how to be funny or silly or anything like that.
But he DID teach me that people are who they are and they shouldn't be expected to change to suit anyone else. He taught me that people have good in them, and that lead to me trying my best to look for what good others offer, despite how they might appear or act.
He taught me to love myself and love others because the world can be a harsh place. Loving others and trying to help them feel comfortable with themselves, and helping them realize that someone cares about them is so, so important.
Mr. Rogers is one of my most beloved influences, and in my opinion, one of the greatest people to ever live. That's just a small bit of what he taught me. If people followed his ideas more often, I think the world would be a better place.
4. Do you believe there is such a thing as paranormal existences?
I don't really know. I WANT them to exist, they're so damn interesting and entertaining to read and think about and I love them and EVERYTHING ABOUT THEM. I've just never had any experience to lead to me believing in any sort of thing like that. I'm typically a skeptic, too...but I do hold the belief that there's so much out there that we've never seen and won't see for a long time. So something could definitely be hiding out there!
5. Have you ever had an experience that you can’t explain?
Plenty of times, really, though I don't necessarily attribute them to the paranormal. Usually just me not caring enough to check it out. I've never had anything super freaky happen, though.
6. Do you think there is intelligent life elsewhere? And if there are, do you think they would even bother with us?
This I definitely do believe, and always have. Our universe is much too vast to not believe there's at least the chance, in my opinion.
On the other aspect, well...I don't know if they'd bother with us, but I know us, as humans, would probably mess with them. So I see it as an inevitability, only relying on once they find us or we find them.
7. You discover a strange door in your house that you’ve never noticed before. A low humming noise and slight glow is coming from behind it. It’s locked. How do you proceed?
I grab a heavy, blunt object, and knock on it, wait for a response. If anything creepy occurs I kick it down if possible and attempt to destroy whatever. That or get someone to help me in doing the same thing.
If there's not a creepy response, then, well...I guess I go in anyway to see whatindAHAIL!
8. Zombie Apocalypse. What’s your plan?
Attempt to gather friends that are close as quickly as possible to build up a resistance force that isn't just me. Then, after gauging the safety of the outside (it will never be safe, but it can be safe enough), we attempt to get to Lowes/Walmart/Home Depot whatever might not have been raided too badly, and gather materials. My house has lots of materials too, and has a fenced in backyard for extra protection, which we can build up and defend even more easily. My neighborhood is full of old people, too, so...the zombies will be weak and feeble. Bonus points. Then we wait it out with trips out as needed until the zombies fall apart in the weather. :)
9. If you had to give up one thing that you like to do/eat/have/watch/play forever what would it be?
I would give up...shit man, what the FUUUUCK. That's such a hard choice. I do the things I do because I enjoy them and the fellowship I have with people I do them with. :(
I suppose I'd give up eating chocolate. Because while I love it, I can get along without it (and it'd help me be a little healthier).
Hmm. I like both, but if I had to pick one at any given time, I'd pick Pepsi. I like Pepsi better as an every once'n'a'while drink. If I had to pick one for consistency, I'd pick Coke. I much prefer its consistency if I drink one of the two often.
11. Why did the chicken cross the road?
Because it wanted too! Chicken's don't need a reason. Chickens just DO.
