He hasn’t been sleeping well. And yes, that is usually entirely her fault. Maybe it’s the fact he’s been staying in her home so often (the cat seems to like it when he’s around) or maybe it’s just that for a while now Alex hasn’t had any reason to travel. It has become almost as frequent to see him muttering in his sleep as her lying awake into the small hours. And this time the name is so clear Alex can’t let it lie.
So she asks. And to his credit, he doesn’t seem to shy away from the answer.
She sets her full body weight into him, letting one arm snake backwards to find his cheek, his chin. To feel his pulse gently against her fingertips. She nods, closing her eyes for a moment.
Pregnant?
Alex is careful, watching her breath and body as to not give anything away.
“Go on.”
She wants to know more. She’s desperate to know more. And yet she’s waiting for the silence to fill in an easy way.
