I love Halo content, all of them (even though I can't afford any of them). But I wish they'd make more content about the other 25 years of the Human-Covenant War. There's so much lore to be had there, and we only get the slightest glimpses of them, and the best source we've got is from The Fall of Reach.
I think about this. A lot.
Not just because I want more Lasky Lore, but just. More info in general. Were there any Covenant factions that were vehemently against the war? What humans sympathized with the various aliens of the Covenant?
Being married to a historian and considering current events, there is often far more to a wide-scale conflict than 'Our religion told us to do a genocide'. Even in Halo, it's at least noted that Regret, Mercy and Truth knew that the Forerunner glyphs had been mistranslated, but kept going with that mistranslation as an excuse to wipe out humanity and I guess ascend (I personally am still not quite clear what they thought the Great Journey actually was).
But given the vast creole of cultures that make up both Humanity and each species within the Covenant, there are bound to be resistances and factions who disagree with the war for innumerable reasons. We get brief glimpses of some; there's mention of the Grunts causing trouble more than once because they just want to be left alone with their families, and with the Kigyar's tendency toward piracy, there's bound to be trouble there, too. There is so much potential for great storytelling in that time span and I would love to see more in the future as well.
