Missed you guys. I'm listening to the episode about the first episode of the AMC show as I'm writing this. I was really reluctant to watch it because of the changes I've been hearing about, but after a few scenes I was fully in. I'm like, ok this is an AU and I'm here for it. I totally get the Daniel casting thing. I'm not as affected, because I don't feel strongly at all about book Daniel. But I imagine it's the same way I feel about Antonio Banderas being cast as Armand. Also, because I just came from getting my nails done, I listened to the official AMC podcast on the show. They interviewed Sam Reid and he was saying how everyone in his everyday life complimented him on his acrilic nails he got for the role. It struck me that in this day and age vampires wouldn't have to hide their nail because that's the reaction people would have. "Cool nails, where did you get them done?" Anyway, thanks for the long episodes. Looking forward to listening to them. ❤️
Hey, good to see you back! We missed being here too <3
Yeah we’re in full AU territory with this show unfortunately. The wild, wild west. Anything goes, babeyyy!
But YES I do love that they kept the vampire nail lore (though, they were never as weaponized in the books). It’s a great way to get that Uncanny feel so that the actors don’t just look like maniacs with bug-eyed contacts and no other changes (okay, they STILL look a bit like maniacs with bug-eyed contacts at times but....choices were made).
As someone with naturally long nails (that I always keep painted/manicured), I can confirm that no one EVER believes me when I say they’re real lmfao! VC vamps could ABSOLUTELY get away with their natural glassy nails these days— in fact, I’m sure Lestat would try to get it trending lmfao
Thank you for listening and taking the time to send this!
