#throwbackthursday to May 2013 when I visited the @nathanaelgreenehmst in Coventry, #RhodeIsland. Originally known as Spell Hall, it was the home of #RevolutionaryWar general Nathanael Greene from 1770 to 1783, and was owned afterwards by his brother Jacob Greene and his wife Margaret. The home, which maintains many of its original features, was purchased in 1919 by the Nathanael Greene Homestead Association and restored to serve as a house museum. In 1972, the house was designated a @nationalhistoriclandmarknps. A paint analysis was completed in the 1990s and the interior has been restored to what it may have looked like in the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries. The home is now a #museum. If you get the opportunity, do plan a visit! Thanks to the volunteers at the Homestead for setting up the tour a few years ago! #RI #RIhistory #SpreadTheHistory #historygirl #history #archi_ologie #architecture #travelblog #travelblogger #blogger #blog #ushistory #americanhistory #exploreRI #coventry #coventryri #spellhall #americanrevolution #revwar #nathanaelgreene #historichouse #nathanaelgreenehomestead #visitRI #tbt (at General Nathanael Greene Homestead) https://www.instagram.com/p/BsegIcClg6k/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1cs8xrjjiwmu5
