Please reference this and set the title around a smaller icon such as a shell. There could be some twiddly bits around the edge too like ribbon as that is mentioned in the book.” 📚My research Collected graphical material from Georgian Era (1714 to c. 1830-37). ✍🏼Sketches Created two sketches, but put one forward. Sharing my process with you today with this cover I created for @harpercollinsch. Swipe to see the part of the process from sketch to final artwork. I often get the question on how to translate inspiration sources into your work. With this project, I took inspiration from African folk culture to create decorative elements for the lettering piece. The lettering had to complement the work on photography based artist Twany Chatmon who was also developing her artwork alongside mine. Both, photography and lettering matched together perfectly thanks to the art direction of Jessie Gang. ... **PROCESS LOVE** I’m sharing the steps of creating this cover for @harpercollins. This has been a truly collaborative project where photography, illustration, lettering and art direction came together nicely. ⠀ ⠀ We were approached by American publishing house @harpercollins to design the book cover of A Song Of Wraiths And Ruin, the first in a fantasy duology inspired by West African folklore, from debut author Roseanne A. Brown. With art direction by Jessie Gang, the brief was to create a lettering piece that complemented the work of photography-based artist Twany Chatmon while finding inspirations on elements of African folk culture (see decorative work with dots, inspired on African embellishing techniques for pottery).⠀ ⠀ Here is the entire process: ⠀ - the rough sketch to test ideas with the editor and AD.⠀ - the digital drawing, and the addition of decorative elements.⠀ - and the final rendering of the design by the art director, that blended all the parts together.⠀ - *BONUS* the very, very rough sketches where I initially found the idea that lead to the final lettering 🤓 ⠀ I’m really happy how this turned out, and for the chance to work alongside many other artists and designers on this cover 🙏🏼 , including our very own @eliasjprado 🤗 ⠀ ⠀ #cover #coverlettering #lettering #creationprocess #creation #process (at Studio Martina Flor) https://www.instagram.com/p/B-sADUpqEjM/?igshid=ou6uzoes0c72
