The capital's robust design community is responding to the health crisis with creative action.
I cannot say enough how much respect I have for scientists. Especially in this time of disinformation, capitalist bullshit, and plague.
With this social isolating thing, I have been self isolating for quite some time, but I still go out with my comrades due to the fact that we along with our chapter of the International Marxist Tendency and IWW are running a mutual aid operation to help aid people who are vulnerable in this crisis. That includes getting groceries, medications, and hygiene essentials for them. We also donate blood, donate food to food banks, and we have adopted (in of a sort of way) some of our neighbors who are elderly and disabled who are particularly vulnerable to the virus' ravages and help them with things like food and such, and we even are going to be there in case their landlord raises the rent and organize and advocate for them.
The alleged attack took place on a bus in the French city of Bayonne on Sunday evening.
Bullied?
How do you call out the bullies in your internet life? Or in this virtual life we’ve suddenly created with our remote coworkers?
We’ve stopped existing as real people, but are just constructs of our former selves. From my research - our human interactions have become subject to those self-object rules that I researched long ago.
Without human contact the way we relate to people online is matter of our brains taking the input from virtual sources and directly relating them to how THEIR input relates to our self In essence - whether it is cyber sex or a meeting we all become extensions of the person experiencing us as media.
We are media and our abilities, strengths, and weaknesses are all now based on theatrics and screen presence as it is perceived by the viewer. We are objects in these Zoom meetings and no longer human. Just soundbites or non-participants.
And I think being non-participant in the age of COVOID is almost safer to stay quiet unless you are called upon. Right?
In my guild - the same. I just want to be friendly, make jokes, and express myself, but this one person keeps picking on me. I very well know I was sick most of last year and my play was inconsistent in Mythic + and I had a few breakdowns because my technology (which is assistive for my disability issues) broke down.
I brought it around this year and frankly, I don’t have a considerable portion of my life to spend “being good at wow” and for others that means knowing every mathematical equation and source of info to have the cutting edge (not the achievement) on playstyle. My PVE raid performance was acceptable.
SO tell me something: if someone knows SO MUCH about WoW, why are they dinking around in our “fun” guild and not on the top leaderboards of arena and Mythic +? There are 40ish other “better” guilds than ours out there with more-focused players with no families and no major life impediments to spending all their time studying wow one could excel and play with higher-level, more intense players.
YET it is ok to bother me because someone who hasn’t played my classes for 15 years tells me how to play my main classes. It is ok to criticize and bother me because I save (their) ass on a minute by minute basis on EVERY PULL. Oh yes. Healers know. We see you get low cause you stood in something or missed a mechanic. We score those triages heals on our logs.
So this goes back to holistic management in general here. I am a healer who keeps the other healers alive. i have utility I use that other players can’t see. I develop inherent responses to crisis. I might not top the charts, but I am still alive to keep the tank alive and shave off those last bits of HP. I know one of my other healers often dies to certain situations so I plan for it. They know that I have my moments.
MY MOMENTS AREN”T SPECIAL AND EVERYONE ELSE DIES JUST AS MUCH AS ME. I JUST TAKE MY MISTAKES MORE TO HEART BECAUSE I VOCALLY WANT TO SHOW I CARE ABOUT LETTING MY TEAM DOWN. THAT DOES NOT MEAN I MAKE MORE MISTAKE OR DIE MORE.
And that was why my old guild really failed at mythic raiding - it was because they didn’t always go to the logs. Logs don’t lie or make up ideas because the way a player presents their internet persona.
And I don’t want advice when I want to play and be fun. I want to joke around. I want to be a friend. I want to show my vulnerability so others know it is ok to be vulnerable.
I don’t have any other place to do it. And you are making me very sad.
quarantine asks: 27, 28, 30, 31, 43, 46, 36 please
Thank you so much for the ask dear
27. I do not like a whole lot of things about it, but one thing I like is that I have so much free time. Mostly, I am out and about, with comrade, friends, University, and work, so mostly I am browsing Tumblr when I am done with all the stuff I need to do, or in between tasks. Plus spending time with comrades who are the best friends and roommates to ask for is amazing as well. We watch movies, we play games, we talk, lots of things.
28. Being restricted to home and stuff. I am an extrovert, and I like going out and being around people, and my comrades and I are currently stuck in quarantine together without any ability to be mobile and help run materials and food and supplies to help the most vulnerable of our communities. Not only that, I cannot physically visit my parents and my grandparents due to my grandparents being 103, and 104 (I did not get to celebrate my grandpa’s birthday with him so that sucks) and my dad having heart problems. The worst part is that I am germophobic so having a virus around makes it lovely for my anxiety. So that is the most challenging part of it.
30. I have good hygine anyways, but mostly I have been avoiding crowded places, basically have been forced into a quarantine by the governor of my state, lysoling my car and house whenever I go out. Washing my hands, showering daily, etc.
31. I have learned nothing much. But my point has been proven that the government is full of incompetent and greedy arseholes, and that communities are able to rely on each other, especially in the poor areas because the politicians do not give a shit about any of the poor and working class in my country.
36. 🙄 🤦♀️ 😩
43. My comrades definitely. Also my books, Yugoslav partisan music, Red Army Choir, my treadmill, my drawing supplies (a wacom tablet, sketchbook) and looking forward to getting more tattoos.
46. One thing positive is that our elderly neighbors that we adopted per say are not sick from coviod-19, and they are doing amazing. They are really nice people, and they also help an do charity work for the homeless and hungry in their spare time, so they have a wealth of information on how to improve our outreach to those areas of our population as well. :)
