I watched the movie ‘cobweb’, and I think it hit my radar mostly from this scene, possibly even this gif itself lol I thought for the most part it was a fun halloween-y spoopy movie. LOTS of pumpkins in it lol It wasn’t really scary, at all. But I know if I saw this when I was the kids age, I’d be scared shitless. This scene was prob the creepiest tho, and made me think the whole movie would be at this level or more scary, and it wasn’t. Which was fine. It kind of plays with who you sympathize with. At first you feel one way towards some characters and then it switched back and forth a couple times, which was prob the best part of the movie. It’s pretty dream like in scenes so I’m sure if you can punch a ton of holes in the plot but it’s kinda more about the atmosphere, which worked for me. Idk I can’t really think of too much more to say about it. I didn’t love or hate it, but it was pretty good. And homelander is the dad in it which was fun.

Man, okay, this movie was not the most cerebral, but watching Jiang Luxia fight dudes for eighty-seven minutes was worth it. Seriously, the violence gets more and more gratuitous as the movie continues. Here's a fight in a kitchen! Here's a fight against some breakdancers! Here's a fight on some scaffolding!
Coweb is about Nie Yiyi, a security guard/martial arts instructor still grieving from her father's death. When her sketch-ass friend recommends her for a bodyguard position, she takes it, and when her employers get kidnapped, she subsumes her grief into violent rage. At one point it feels kind of like she's channeling nine-year-old Eren Jaeger in stunning displays of vigilante brutality.
That's it. That's the movie. Some stuff happens with the fights being televised online and people gambling and a scene where she ponders whether or not she's becoming a monster, but let's face it: nobody's here for the plot.
The actress is really cool, though! Jiang Luxia is an actual wushu champion and she does most of her stunts. She's really good at dodging and evading attacks: in Coweb, her style's all about being able to take hits and let her opponents exhaust themselves. The movie does not sexualize her at all (like, she spends the whole time in a hoodie and T-shirt) and showcases her cool moves really well. If you like watching women punch/kick/bludgeon things, Coweb is the movie for you.
finished my 24-hour midterm so I'm going to watch martial arts movies and Game of Thrones until I pass out
