Three years. They’d been together for three years, it was the longest and most serious relationship she had ever been in and everything was beyond perfect. Yet for some reason she was scared. That she wasn’t even the commitment type. She couldn’t shake the feeling that everything was going to eventually end in disaster. She couldn’t rid her mind of the niggling thoughts and the insecurities screaming at her to get out before she ruined everything completely. After all she was fully aware that a life like hers didn’t end in happily ever after. That was why she found herself taking the opportunity one night when he was called into work to cover a shift. She packed everything she owned into bags as quickly as she could, ensuring she left no trace of herself, hoping that way he would get over her easier. Taking one last look around the room that had been theirs but would now become his again, she slowly closed the door as a tear slipped down her face, only to turn around and walk straight into his brother. She was almost sure explaining to him was more difficult than it would have been to explain to Chase, but then that thought made her swallow hard. The note of explanation was screwed up in her hand and she wiped her tears furiously as she pondered whether ‘I’m sorry, I love you, but don’t want to end up really hurting you’ was even enough scrawled on tear stained paper. She kissed his brothers cheek and asked him give that to Chase, sliding the note onto the counter in the hopes maybe it wouldn’t be needed or seen because it didn’t really explain a thing. She tugged her hands away from Morgans before she ended up changing her mind and pulling her hood up and coat tight slipped out of the door and down the road into the night.
