Presentation Inital Notes
At the beginning of this course I didn’t know what my future plans would be once I obtained my BA Hons Illustration Degree. However looking through placements during this year I have started to understand my processes and styles. Looking towards CV planning was challenging for me as I needed to remove background information superfluous to the types of positions I would be applying for ie. School qualifications. I hadn’t realized that many companies don’t want to see where you studied for high school they mainly want to see years of experience and links to work/portfolio. Thinking of this, I began to question the circular argument of how to gain experience, if companies only offer positions to experienced artists. After attending all of Lee Corner’s workshops she has helped me realise how I can achieve this by making myself known, connecting to people and networking within these companies even if it isn’t for a job. I have created my own website, instagram and Linked In show casing my work to date.
I now have a more positive outlook, I am more confident and believe more in my own abilities and skills.
I hadn’t realized that I had a strong interest in medical illustration. I have grown up around medical family members. I became very interested in researching this option more fully and discovered that not only is a popular profession, provided by private companies but also by the NHS. I was surprised by this and realise that there are many opportunities worldwide for medical illustrators and medical photographers, often the two being linked.
