CP agreed to drop its long-standing objection to passenger service on this freight line only after 1979’s Mississauga Train Derailment (North America’s largest peacetime evacuation until Hurricane Katrina). Today I had to drop Brock off in Calgary, and saying goodbye had my heart breaking; half of the ride home was spent sobbing, I wasn't prepared for that.

This is only temporary, I couldn't be more proud of him, but it shook me to my core with just how visceral that goodbye went. It shook me to my god damn core.

Now I begin the countdown to the 26th.
