Critical Role Campaign 2 Episode 100 Spoilers w/o Context
CR2E100- Hunted At Sea
I cannot believe I'm at episode 100 of this show. It feels unreal. I have listened to So Much DnD, but it also feels like it's passed in an instant.
There's something uncomfortable about passing into quarantine time. It kinda lessens the escapism effect a bit to see covid actively effecting this thing that I love somehow. Like it got touched and ruined the way the rest of the world did. It doesn't really lessen my enjoyment, but I'm more aware of the difference than I thought I would be.
Travis immediately showing off all the Boat Knowledge he amassed in quarantine is very funny. I love the idea of just getting super prepped to play again as a way of coping with the wait
Why do they always turn things into turtles?? That never goes well for you Jester, never. A sea-slug is much more reasonable. I do love the idea that the Nein have been like. Cursed by the Turtle God or something.
Poor Caduceus hates the water but goes water skiing to help everyone. I bet he actually liked that part a bit but wouldn't admit it. I feel like skiing would unironically be super fun, maybe without the giant turtle threat tho. I'd try it!
Get The Turtle Laid 2k20. I want to live in a universe where this worked somehow. Can Frumpkin be a Dragon Turtle........?
Yasha eating that fucking flower with Veth and Clay just the little angel and demon on her shoulder was cracking me up. "what is a flower for if not to smell?" "Certainly not to eat." I love Caduceus's little grumpy judgemental mom moments.
Ok this is a little small moment, but Caleb casting message specifically on Veth to let her know something was Up made me so happy. They've been interacting less and less as they figure how to relate to each other in this new way, and while I don't think codependency is healthy, its certainly very sweet to watch. And Caleb specifically messaging Veth gave me nostalgic early-campaign vibes.
Matt Mercer continuing the tradition of making tiny npc parts the most fascinating fucking characters that I want to hear novels about. You have the one lady mention she's been "learning how to handle"" (or smth like that) the bear thing her entire life. But at some point she had like a play-fight with this other guy that went so hard he became a wear-bear too and she has to teach him how to deal while coping with the guilt of training him combined with the joys of not being alone in that particular issue anymore? That's such a good story, and I got all of it out of maybe a half-hours worth of story time.
I think I am going to really love this arc. Isolated in a mysterious tropical setting where stuff is Going Wrong and everyone feels unsettled is such a specific vibe, but such a good and dramatic one. I can't wait to see how this becomes super-ultra-creepy!
