i do love caleb very assertively telling beau that they made the best decisions that they could and that he feel fine about everything that happened, and then immediately when he's alone with nott he goes, "today was a major clusterfuck. everything went wrong. we did all the wrong things" and agrees with nott that it didn't feel very good. makes it seem like he was trying to buck up for beau when he said all that, albeit it did NOT work (ft. marisha in the background, PISSED that he's contradicting what he said to her earlier)

I seriously love how Taliesin played Caduceus in the start of the Uk'otoa arc. up until then he'd been the calm one accepting of what life threw at him, because he had his neat plan and his destiny. and then things went weird, and bad, and totally different to how he expected, and that sense of secuirty shattered

and it fits so well with his backstory. he was raised surrounded by death, he knows it intimately. but the notable thing is that he always saw those dead people after they'd already died. it was easy to ascribe fate and poeticisms to someone who died far from your sight. when he's with the mighty nein, he suddenly has to face the randomness and unflattering reality of life. and understandably, he panics

it was a great moment to show how Cad doesn't thrive in chaos and how his upbringing is so different from the others in the mighty nein, as well as to sober them all a bit to what they're doing and how it affects people

The turnaround from trying to brutally kill each other in a frantic attempt to survival to hyping Gallan up and giving him a pep talk is true to Mighty Nein fashion They may fuck you up, but!! Their diplomacy will cause them to be ride or die for you

The M9: Hmm that’s interesting…should we ditch this wacky plan and go turn in the boat and look like heroes, possibly even being rewarded?

The M9: Nahhh…let’s spread a ghost story and flee out to sea instead!

The jellyfish talk is so good though. It’s the perfect example of what makes Fjord and Jester so great as friends (and eventually more). They’re a safe space for each other. They can be vulnerable in front of each other and they feel safe doing so. 

But it’s also this huge growth point for Fjord. He’s been watching Jester and taking her happiness at face value until now and he hasn’t had a chance to follow up with her alone since Caleb pointed out that it’s all an act, so he asks her if she’s sad and he lets her know she’s not alone and reminds her that they take care of each other and he’s going to support her and that her mom is very proud of her. Like, he knows exactly what to say to get a smile and a laugh without diminishing anything she’s going through. 

They’re just so sweet together.
