"healing" magic that doesn't heal. it only supplements the patient enough to keep them alive through intervention. it just keeps the blood going where it needs to be, it keeps the lungs on a rhythmic cycle, it gives power to the organ systems, consciousness if necessary, et cetera. that way, a lethal injury becomes survivable, if only a healer is there to become their life support while the medics do their job. a deadly poison becomes curable if there's enough magic to keep the heart beating. torture can last forever with the right magic user, willing (or coerced) to keep a victim alive until they break.

2023 was a great year for hard rock and metal but I honestly think 2026 is gonna beat it. in 23' we had:

getting into a new band as a prog fan always seems to mean discovering a whole realm of genre names that were originally made up as inside jokes but now act as real descriptors

harry potter fans are truly the worst self reporters huh. they cant seem to stay in their own bubbles, they always seem to pop up on anti jkr posts to defend themself about how they 'only engage with the fandom and not the source material' like I really don't care, stop telling us about it. if you feel that guilty about it, just stop. and if you don't feel guilty about it, stop expecting us to absolve you like we're priests of trans sin lmao. go enjoy it in your own bubbles that are purged of any critical discussion

just saw a 'comments' tab on someones blog you know where the following and likes tabs would be if enabled and it was just showing all the replies theyve made on peoples posts. this is fascinating when did this feature come out

EMERGENCY - ITS AUTO ENABLED!

if you've made replies on posts there is now a tab on your blog showing every post youve replied to and your reply.

if this is not what you want, either go to your blog and click comments and disable it from there or just go to your individual blogs setting pages. just change it from blue to grey if you dont want everyone to see your replies AND the post you're replying to

PLEASE BE ADVISED that it is set to disabled for blogs that have not made any replies but it will turn ON if you reply with that blog in the future.! i just tested it with my main, which was greyed out but it turned on the moment i left a test reply

figured i'd get the word out bc i have not seen a single mention of this and i'm sure there are plenty of people who maybe comment on things they don't want on display for everyone to see on their blog lol. you can still look at your replies with it toggled off just no one else can, like locking the following and likes list

so for some reason this feature was actually announced on the tumblr engineering blog. interesting choice not to reblog it to the staff or tumblr blog, esp considering they asked for user input on how to implement it, but i suppose considering the response to the last update maybe the replies would be too overwhelming...

so couple of clarifications. comments are disabled as default for primary blogs that have their likes disabled. they are seemingly enabled for all other blogs that have replied to posts

posts you comment on may show on your followers 'for you' page if you leave your replies publically available. they may, in the future, show in on your followers dashboard if your follower goes to their dash settings and enables this. apparently, if your likes are enabled, your followers can already see those on the dash if they've gone into preferences and selected to do so, which I was unaware of, and that seems to be disabled at default, but it's possible i disabled it previously and forgot about it ig

if you're into alt pop and pop rock and want to try heavier stuff but don't quite know how to get into it, I may have a recommendation. like, maybe you've listened to twenty one pilots or yungblud and are trying to get into bands like bmth, bad omens and architects but aren't quite there yet

boy have I got the perfect middle way for you. check out Normandie, they're a pop-rock-metalcore band with just the perfect mix of hooks and tastefully heavier moments. I like to describe them as if 5sos and architects had a baby and then put a shawn mendes who can scream as the singer

start with their pop rock album Dopamine and work your way back a bit. but if you want the best idea of them, check out their live sessions for White Flag, Babylon and Enough. Philip Strand's vocals and delivery is so satisfying and perfectly digestible to most pop-accustomed ears, with some expert power and distortion in the right places

They also have a few new songs like Cyanide that lean more into the metallic side again, still with the beautiful chorus hooks. I highly recommend them for any adventurous pop fans

isnt it wild how yelling at someone is not seen as a proportionate response to someone making an honest mistake, and you rarely see adults yell at each other without being seen as rude/confrontational, but as soon as its their own child making the mistake, they can yell at them all they want

like I used to be so shocked that metal vocalists like will ramos could throat sing as well as being able to scream, it seemed like too many skills for one guy, but now it makes more sense; they're literally the same placement just with different levels of breath control
