"i thought the packages were a joke someone was playing on me" is actually such a heart-wrenching thing to hear from yeza. knowing that, until recently, all the packages nott sent him were basically just full of junk and trinkets she found that she thought he or luc might like, the fact that he really thought someone in town was sending him packages of random stuff--worthless things that his wife would have loved, but that everyone else thought were stupid and worth mocking and bullying her for--is breathtakingly cruel. he thought someone was making fun of his loss by sending him junk, and insulting veth in her grave.
