i’m so entertained by the brief debate over the magic ring. the sides switched so fast

at the start it was sam going wait, caleb’s taking the ring? what about yasha? her ac is higher than yours caleb. and laura going no he should have it (with liam basically laughing in sam’s face going you are mISINFORMED)

and then As Soon as ashley says her ac is 14 and liam comes back with ELEVEN laura’s defending and saying he has shield but sam polymorphs into nott and is instantly going NO!!! HE NEEDS IT!!! YOU CAN’T TAKE THE RING FROM MY CALEB!!!!!!!

so we all knew that nott’s been wingmanning for jester with fjord for ages now, but between her urging them to kiss in disguise while humiliating the foreman AND her immediate reaction to jester’s new scrying ability being *gasp* ‘you could be watching caleb at night???’ i think we have to consider that truthfully nott is just trying to get jester a boyfriend. she doesn’t care if it’s fjord. she doesn’t care who it is. she’s just become jester’s matchmaker and no one can stop her now.

(also jeez these two boys, their shit is so far from together. fjord seems very aware that he has feelings for jester but he also sort of seems to hate that fact. he’s totally in denial. he doesn’t WANT to have a crush on her and this conflict alternately comes out in trying to impress her and acting really weird, sometimes having really earnest conversations, and then swinging wildly back to vehemently denying any sort of possibly-romantic interactions with her in front of witnesses.

and then there’s caleb, who obviously doesn’t have any romantic intentions for jester, and almost certainly doesn’t consciously feel romantic interest for her - romance is so far out of this boy’s mind right now - but at the same time is. just so clearly in love with her. it may or may not manifest romantically in the end but come on. jester: ‘could you all be the traveler’s disciples?’ caleb, without hesitation: ‘no but we could be your disciples. we have faith in you.’ i mean come ON

i’ve honestly reached a point where despite the constant romantic vibes between the three of them i Do Not Want jester to end up with either of them bc much as i love these boys they’re disasters!!! she deserves Less Of A Disaster!!!)

i know it was primarily liam meta-gaming and already knowing yasha’s backstory that allowed him to ask about yasha’s wife and not assume husband, but in-character this just cements that caleb can just Sense Lesbians
