*** • I had been planning a Blue Ridge Parkway trip for a few months. My initial intent was to drive the entire distance, stopping at popular spots to photograph both the scenery and those who ventured along the road I traveled. Once I started planning in detail, I soon realized the impossibility of capturing the entirety of the Parkway in the short time that I had. - Moab and I headed out on June 19th, ready to enjoy the last days of spring, and to welcome the summer solstice from the mountain tops. The first day was filled with vistas floating above the clouds and a hike to #crabtreefalls. However, plans for the rest of the day were discarded once the clouds enveloped the mountain road, spitting out their fluid, slicking the road. Slowly we made our way down toward Asheville, sleeping under the stars at an overlook just outside of town. - Waking up to watch the clouds rise from the valley floor I decided to spend the day discovering waterfalls. We hiked some 10 miles, witnessing the torrents of a half dozen cascades. I had been so starved of #fallingwater the 7 years I lived in San Diego.
