Day 21: Crabzilla

(I had no idea what to do with this at first. What can you write about an extremely obvious photoshop job? Maybe it's just because I haven't eaten lunch yet but the idea of that gigantic thing being served as a dish seemed really interesting to me. I have never even tried crab and my mouth was watering while writing some bits of this) In the highest echelons of human dining, small portions are king. Think about it. The most glitzy and ostentatious of restaurants serves tiny plates each regarded as their own course. To that I say: they are cowards. A true foodie knows that more food means more to enjoy. More to savor as your mouth is filled with the flavors of what you eat. Of course as I write I must admit my biases. My position in the Court of Gluttony means that what I want when it comes to food is excessively large amounts of the unhealthiest slop possible. But I still have my standards when it comes to food. What is the point of excess when what you indulge in isn’t even worth engaging in? Gluttony does not mean you give up your ideals of what food should be, gluttony makes you even more aware of what food can truly be. That is why I do my job, making sure the trainees to become one of us understand that philosophy. So why do I reminisce about the past now? Well it is times like these that help me to remember what I do this for. The most recent feast today was grand as always, being the final test for the cooks of the Court. As a judge it is my duty to be fair and unbiased when judging our students. But one contender stood out the most for me. Not just in presentation and flavor but the sheer audacity in what they decided to present to us. Crabzilla, fully steamed with classic old bay seasoning, butter, and lemon. A true monster, we were all drooling with anticipation. And for such a regular dish, Gutseau here managed to add their own flair with hints of sweetness to balance out the existing salt, umami, and acid by adding a sprinkle of brown sugar. There was a hint of spice too which elevated the crab into acting as a full palette of flavors. Each of us devoured copious amounts of crab, yet the flavors never got old. Each bite was a different taste which made getting through the dish almost like an adventure. Out of all the contestants, I would recommend Gutseau as our next entry into the Court of Wrath. I for one cannot wait to see what edible spectacles they would bring for us again.

Oh yes, I did! I ordered The Crab-zilla for dinner last night at the @bluewahoosbball game. . .
