Doing Show and Tell Saturday on my own because I'm very proud

Finally FINALLY finished this monster piece for @naritaren for our @craftexchange swap!

I'll be honest, I was a little delusional when I chose from the options Cass offered. The pattern is the last picture for context. The piece measured about 9x6" and took me I don't even know how many hours. I started about mid February and finished December 1

For context, every little loop and T shape you see is four individual stitches and every single one of them takes a full minute to do. The flower at the very bottom (rows 1-3) took three hours

To be clear, this is my own fault since I had a really overblown idea of my own abilities. I've learned a lot since starting lol. I don't like the pattern transfer I used and I could've saved myself a lot of agony by waxing my thread. Who knows how much time I lost by the pattern peeling off the fabric and my thread creating knots previously unknown to science

I'm really proud of the piece and I'm happy it's on its way to Cass

my brain is on a tear to make colorways and name them, yo. so many palettes in my head with no real end project in mind...

I think it's all the thinking about spinning since I received an AMAZING and INSPIRING couple of hand-dyed delights from @crow-crafting for a craft exchange.

They are SO GOOD, you guys. Saturated and deep colors, fibers I just want to prepositionally plunge my fingers.

Around 3 years ago now, I was walking to go babysit when I found a reddish orange curtain on the side of the road. I pick it up because that's good fabric right there! Imideatly it tells me it wants to be a vest of some sort.

We don't argue with fabric when it tells you what it wants to be. But I don't look good in warm tone fabrics. People ask if I'm sick, which yes I am but not more then last time you saw me. My love doesn't like orange or yellow. So I started searching amongst friends and family to see if anyone might be interested.

Last fall I found the perfect person. There he was my love's cousin, at a wedding, talking about how confident he felt in his orange waistcoat and how he should wear stuff like this more often.

I explained the fabric's wishes and then asked him if he'd be interested in owning the finished waistcoat. He said yes and that in exchange he would make me woven trim on his loom. He had been looking for an exuse to see how long of a trim his loom is capable of making. So yay hobby exchange!

Life got in the way but I have finished it! Waistcoat complete and in my opinion it looks really nice. I did have to do a little bit of piecing to make it work but we did it.

I added fully functional welt pockets and a lace up back for fitting purposes because I really had no extra fabric. This was my first time doing both of those things.

Finally finished - a rainbow triple rotator cuff for my @craftexchange trade with @naritaren ! Plus, it works really well with the original centerpiece that didn’t work out with mine, so I’m including that too. It will be mailed on Monday.

Stashbusting Summer Craft Exchange Interest Poll!

Do you like crafts? Do you like buying craft supplies? Of course you do! Here's the real question: do you like craft exchanges?

If you do, then how does a stashbusting craft exchange sound?

The essentials: you sign up to make a craft to trade with someone else, focusing on using craft supplies you already own. This is about reminding ourselves of the cool things we've already purchased, rather than buying something new to make (though it's fine to purchase some materials to finish a project if you run out).

What kind of crafts? Ever so many! Knitting, crochet, embroidery, cross-stitch, sewing, quilting, watercolors, paper art, origami, painting -- I would recommend keeping the crafts small and easily shipped, but pretty much anything would be welcome! You will be matched with someone who makes a craft you'd enjoy receiving (when applying, people will list what they can make/what they would enjoy).

International trades will be welcome; people who are willing to ship internationally will be paired up.

Depending on interest, the sign-up form will go out on May 15, and then the official crafting period will be June 1 through August 31. All trades should be mailed out by September 1.

TAKEN - I have 3 packs of 100 teksolv heddles size 330mm/13 inches if anyone would like them. Bought the wrong size initially when I was still figuring out the basics of putting my loom back together.

Happy to ship them anywhere for the cost of shipping :) also willing to do a swap/exchange.
