Aghhh I had the best day everrr!!! I went to a Greek and Latin conference, learned to do a a bit of Gladiator sword fighting, launched a giant trebuchet, won the Greek translation contest (even though I was the only contestant the person judging said I did extremely well and got it almost completely right), then went to a crafts market and got a bunch of cool stuff and foods!!!

Yesterday I went to the crafts fair Nadelwelt (Needle World). It was really interesting. There was a part with exhibitions of mostly fabric related art and then a section with shops. I was surprised to see so many French vendors and shops from the Netherlands. The shops also had projects on display and I took even more photos for inspiration. There weren't a lot of fabrics on sale (well, at least not really great deals) or similar but, as I had hoped, there was a lot of fabric to see live and touch (in Germany there aren't that many quilt shops and I get most of my fabric online).

At first, I was really good, not buying anything but looking first. I had a list of things I could use and was "allowed" to buy (12 FQ for a baby quilt, backing for another baby quilt, some rope for several projects ...). And I gave myself a budget (which I thought was very comfortably high).

My resolve weakened when we got to a booth that had hundreds of little containers with charms to pick and chose

Next was a booth with patches and pins

And finally a French fabric designer who had beautiful minky panels and set for bags and backpacks.

Now my resolve was broken. These mini spools I could not pass by

And then I did buy fabric. I tried to buy only fabric I would not easily get somewhere else like Japanese fabric ...

I was so weakened, I even bought some regular fabric on sale (which I had told myself not to do because I have enough and can always get those easily online)

With the rest of my budget, I got two pieces of Sashiko threat, because I wanted to try this technique and a little piece of prepared cloth.

Oh, my shopping list? I got nothing from that list (technically, the 12 FQ of the African fabrics would qualify, but I decided to keep them for myself).

My booth at the arts & crafts fair today. I had never done a crafts fair outdoors, so I was a little concerned about setting up, wind, rain, blazing sun, etc. It was very chilly at 8 a.m. when we had to set up, but it did warm up into the 80s throughout the day. I sold a children’s book and 5 temari of various price points, so I made $128 for the day.
