Lyrics from Silhouettes by Of Monsters and Men
Home (For a Drabble with maybe Crane and Sigyn, perhaps?)
Home for victorious-sigyn
Crane liked his apartment. It was small, but spacious forNew York. It was filled with things he liked. Heâd lived there just under tenyears, since heâd gotten his doctorate, and heâd had time to accumulate things. There were, of course, the magical objects hidden in the broom closet and thebedroom closet, respectively. And the real closet, which was mismatched doorleading to a portal to a closet in an entirely different house, because heâdneeded more space. The place was well warded. More than that, though, hismundane joys were there. His books, his cooking, his games. The things thatmade him more than just a somewhat powerful Mastigos of the Mysterium. And heknew where everything was, The Hobbit, his copy of Dead Space 2, the oregano. Of course all these things made things abit cramped, but he rarely had visitors. Until heâd met Sigyn.
He saw her apartment, and wondered at the way they performedloneliness so differently. When he first saw it, it was like a magazine photo;in fact he was fairly certain it contained the furniture heâd been offered inthe âfurnishedâ option when he had first rented his place. It was a neat and lovelyplace where someone else lived.
So where did he live? Everything in the apartment was his, something heâd chosen, something he liked. It was obvious that he lived there, and living there, he felt safe. As safe as he ever felt. Was that what âhomeâwas? He wasnât sure. He wasnât sure heâd know it if he saw it. So he paidattention to Sigynâs apartment. He had his suspicions about her childhood, butsheâd been married, and he knew very little about that, because he wasnât goingto ask her until she wanted to talk. He paid attention to the things thatperiodically appeared that werenât part of the âfurnishedâ option. There wassomething new almost every time he visited. The coffee cups that she liked touse to describe their moods when he came over. Decorations, often purple, butnot always. Was it any different than how the contents of his own apartment hadgrown? He wasnât sure. It felt different.
Crane knew how to live in a space. He wondered if Sigyn knewhow to live in a home.
Whatâs the maximum amount of time your character can sit still with nothing to do? (For Crane)
The thing about Crane is the he has a very unquiet mind, but also pretty good concentration, so heâs terrible at sit still with nothing to do, but very good at sitting still with *almost* nothing to do. And when youâre a telepath with few ethical scruples about browsing nearby minds, thereâs usually something to do.
So, with nothing to do, he quickly becomes caught up in anxiety, doubt or depression, stuck in a loop of negative thoughts about the pasts and questions of his own self-worth. But give him a book, a Rubikâs cube, or someone nearby with a good song stuck in their head, and heâs good.

âWherever there is you, I will be there, too.â
đ (For Crane)
đ - Would your muse make a wish on a star? If so, what would they wish for?
âWasnât it Pinocchio who wished upon a star? I suppose it worked out okay for him in the end...we do both have that thing about lying...sometimes I donât feel entirely human myself so I wouldnât mind being a real boy, honestly.
Did you know that recently, scientists observed the collision of two neutron stars? Both in visible light and gravitational waves. Google it; itâs interesting. There are a number of things I wish for in life, the sort of significant and unlikely thing that might qualify for a âwish upon a starâ kind of wish. The thing about the neutron stars is that they were in another galaxy, and the collision took place about 130 million years ago. And thatâs a marvel, really, to be able to see something like that. But these wishes I have...why would I spend them on something so far away, on the light of something that died so long ago?â
