I’m posting this not because I like it, but because it’s an excellent example of the worst kind of TV. This woman clearly isn’t interested in being interviewed, doesn't understand what all the fuss is about on her 110th birthday - so damn well leave her alone to enjoy her coffee. Stupid people!
I get the feeling watching this, no-one even asked this poor dear if she was interested in an interview - but they did it anyway. That looks a lot like abuse to me.
I’m sick and tired of these dumb news reports (we get them on British TV too) insisting on reminding us while we’re eating breakfast, still barely awake, that to be over 100 years old is a glorious event. Maybe it is - for some, but not for others it isn’t. And they never fail to convey the message that nursing homes are not nearly as bad as we fear.
Yes they bloody well are to be feared!! I’ve seen loved ones book themselves into a nursing home thinking all their needs will be taken care of only to find the place is a dysfunctional nightmare of a home. In most cases nursing homes are as bad (possibly worse) than living in a prison, and you get to watch everyone else around you slowly die. Being old and needing nursing care is never going to be jolly like these idiots are trying to turn it into.
This is television at it’s very worst, and is largely why I rarely watch it now - it’s full of trash. Give me some reality, talk about the real issues that effect real people, and maybe I’ll be interested enough to watch.
When you see shit TV like this, ring the TV station and shout at them, at least that way their telephone lines will become overwhelmed and they might finally get it - nobody wants to watch garbage like this.
If you don’t get what I’m saying - well don’t worry, one day you’ll be old enough and sick enough to discover it for yourself. Life goes a lot faster than you think, and these situations, one way or another effect us all.
