speaking of trini how did the sexuality thing go bc they made a big deal out of it only for people to say it's barely a thing so

okay, i mean....spoilers? i guess? it gets rambly down there but if you don’t mind spoilers that aren’t huge, keep on reading

but like, trini came out as ‘not straight’ during a pivotal emotional scene between all of the rangers. it was something she shared with the others so that they could develop a deeper, more meaningful bond. imo that’s....amazing. she revealed this part of herself that puts her ‘outside’ of her family unit and rather than rejecting her, the other rangers were just like ‘okay our queer friend trini’. 

and like. that’s it. it’s not a big deal in the movie but it’s a BIG DEAL OUT HERE because she’s not white! and she’s not straight! and she’s a friggin’ superhero who has a found family who loves her and who she saves the world with. and she’s just. it’s part of her. her sexuality is just there, like her brown hair. and. just. SHE’S NORMAL. SHE’S ONE OF THEM. her being gay doesn’t make her different!! at all!! she’s just as special as everyone else!! and the other rangers love her and would literally die for her no matter what!! queer folk are normal!! 

and also this is clearly not the only power rangers movie that’s going to happen. we have no idea if, in the future, trini will have a girlfriend. there wasn’t much of a romantic subplot to the movie so singling out trini’s sexuality and putting it on some pedestal to analyse would’ve seemed like some kind of weird tokenising. 

(also, there were little hints in the movie that made it seem like they were setting up trini and zack but then they blew that out of the water with the sexuality reveal scene and zack not ONCE thought about himself during that scene and it was such a massive deal bc so often the straight men queer women are close to feel offended or intimidated by a woman who might not want to fuck them and it’s gross and has no place in media that is, basically, for teens and young adults.)

anyway, i feel like the hype has a lot to do with the internet amping it up and making it a big story, but i absolutely don’t think anyone should be disappointed in trini’s coming out or in how her sexuality is used in the movie bc it’s appropriate and beautiful and i can’t wait to see what else is in store for her.

uh i’m pretty sure that’s not actually true, there is no evidence that animals can get covid19 or even any solid evidence that they can spread it among humans so please don’t worry too much about that.

i think this was mainly a reminder for the people who come to my dog park to actually practice good social distancing with each other because as of even a few days ago people were definitely congregating in groups and standing closer than advised and just hanging out under the guise of watching the dogs play
