Barnabas
Day 15 of @hinnymicrofic - Found
Now that most of Harry's children were at Hogwarts, he was no longer used to anyone waiting by the door when he got home from work. So he was very surprised when he was greeted by a small calico kitten that let out a mournful meow as he hung up his cloak.
"Hello there," he said as he picked up the kitten. It began to purr with contentment as he held it in his arms.
"You met Barnabas," Lily exclaimed as she ran up to her father. "Isn't he the cutest kitten ever! Mum and I found him this morning. He is super sweet! I promise that I'll feed him and keep his cat box clean. And he's so little that he won't hardly take up any room. Plus, I can take him with me to Hogwarts next year. Can we please keep him? Pretty please!
"Can I make it past the door before you start asking me for something?" Harry asked while he tried to keep the amusement out of his voice.
"Of course!" Lily jumped out of the way and followed Harry into the living room. Harry set the kitten down next to the pile of new cat toys. When he turned around, Lily looked up at him expectantly with her big brown eyes.
"Yes, we can keep him."
"Hooray! You are the bestest dad ever!" Lily shouted as she hugged Hany tight. He hugged her back and kissed the top of her head. When he let go, she plopped down next to the new kitten, chattering away and waving toys in front of his face.
Harry walked into the kitchen to greet his wife. "So, Barnabas," he said as he bent down to kiss Ginny.
"Lily actually picked out the name."
"I've always said that she takes after her mother," Harry said with a smile while Ginny turned back to the counter. Once she started chopping vegetables again Harry asked, "Where exactly did you find him?"
"The pet store."
