Story Time: My Crazy Professor
So one of my professors this semester is pretty crazy.
He is quirky and different and definitely says some questionable stuff but it’s mostly all in a joking haha kind of way.
One of the craziest days of class this semester, other than the day when we just talked about guns and what makes a gun a certain type and what all the ak, ar, 30 06 yadda yadda means, was the day he gave out money and ate chalk.
We started the class by trying to define culture and what makes up culture so we had given him some words that came to mind, food, music, commonality/traditions etc.
Well class is going along and he gets on a tangent about how the way we carry value now is within money, but mostly electronically, so dollars are basically worthless especially because we can no longer go to the government and ask for the value in silver or gold like one used to be able to. So he pulls out cash from his wallet and says “This is a burden. I actually want to get rid of it.” He proceeded to hand out money to people in my class. Then later he talked about how it was so worthless that *RIPS DOLLAR BILL MULTIPLE TIMES* that he didn’t really effect anything by tearing up the dollar, you’ll be happy to know that someone still took that dollar as well.
Then he starts asking us, what is food? People say things like “something that has nutritious value” he nods and then looks around
“So this?” *holds up chalk* “Is this food?”
To which I said “Yes technically it has nutritious value.”
“Correct” he says AS HE BITES THE END OF HIS CHALK OFF “It’s just calcium.” and then he went on to explain how certain cultures consider different things foods and then class ended.
That my friends is the story of one of the craziest days I’ve had so far this semester, hopefully there are more stories to come.
