Guys I’m so done with math omg

I have one month until my 3rd year of college starts.

I’ve spent all summer doing a research project on California missions and doing a summer stats class (my second time trying to get my math credit for my degree) and both are ending by the end of this coming week.

Once class starts I’ll be interning at my local historical society while also working my university’s library. My schedule is basically completely full except for Wednesdays so I don’t go actually insane (and have a day to schedule all my doctors appointments 💔)

I will know zero peace but I’m genuinely super excited for this coming semester

Hello,

My blog consists of some original content but also reblogs of other blogs sharing study journeys, as well as aesthetically-inspiring subjects centered around cafes, libraries, notebooks, journals, and stationery.

My name is Gem. I’m 28 and 3 semesters away from getting my degree in Natural Resource Management with a minor in American Indian Studies.

Some of my academic interests include: Indigenous land stewardship, traditional ecological knowledge, environmental justice, environmental education(EE), and cultural anthropology. I am particularly interested in increasing the accessibility of green spaces/parks/EE to groups who have been historically excluded from environmental spaces.

In my free time, I enjoy reading horror, journaling, scribbling in my Hobonichi, listening to true crime podcasts, and going on walks/hikes to observe the flora and fauna around me.

Finally, I just wanted to say I love the studyblr community. I look forward to seeing everyone’s study posts, what people are listening to, and what tasks are on everyone’s to-do lists. I am cheering you all on as you also pursue your academic goals.

Yearly check in on this account— bar prep edition (more ‘study,’ less ‘-spo’).

It’s kinda crazy I made this account 5 years ago, in high school.

And now I have a J.D. and I’m studying for what I hope will be the last exam of my life.

5 years can change so much. I moved across the country, got married, I have two dogs now.

My standards have shifted too. I don’t really shoot for perfection anymore. It’d be nice, but it’s so unnecessary. A somewhat relieving reality I have come to realize is that nobody cares about your success as much as you do. Nobody cares when you succeed, and nobody cares when you fail. Not long term, or big picture, at least. A success or failure in and of itself doesn’t really mean much. It’s a lot more useful to set goals based on costs and benefits.

So, that’s to say, if I could do it again? I’d go to a ‘worse’ school, and seek more scholarships. Spend less time studying in undergrad, because I’m gonna be super honest, it doesn’t matter a ton. Probably take a gap year, because I am burnt!!!! Out!!! (Nobody cares that you’re the youngest or do it the fastest either, btw.)

But, live and learn.

Anyways! If anyone is still here and following this account after all this time, thanks! I’m in the home stretch! Pretty neat to think this tumblr account is the only thing that’s been consistent from point A to point B.

Also open to questions about law school or whatever but be warned, my answer is “don’t go, I hated it, I’m financially in ruin!” 🫶
