Sprotte/Frieda!?

Sprotte hat bestimmt immer mal wieder Abenden, wo sie sich beim Essen über irgendwelche Geschehnisse des Tages aufregt, oder einfach ganz viel redet und Frieda hört ihr einfach gerne dabei zu und schaut Sprotte einfach nur an. Manchmal verliert sie sich etwas in Sprottes Gesicht, irgendwo zwischen ihren Augen und den Sommersprossen, die ganz nah an ihren Lippen sind.

Frieda regt sich nicht so viel über alltägliche Dinge auf, dafür über die großen Themen und manchmal ist sie nach Planungstreffen einfach frustriert und verzweifelt. Dann umarmt Sprotte sie lange und wenn es ganz schlimm ist gehen sie raus zum Stall. Ein Huhn auf dem Schoß wirkt wahre Wunder, pflegt Sprotte dann immer zu sagen und wie so oft, hat Sprotte damit recht.

Sprotte regt sich auf über die kleinen dinge, Frieda über die grossen und sie trösten sich gegenseitig! und sie beide könnten der anderen stundenlang zuhören, wenn sie leidenschaftlch über etwas redet!! Friedas Augen leuchten richtig, wenn sie über ein neues Projekt redet, wo sie organisieren hilft und Sprotte kann gar nicht fassen, dass sie das Glück hat, jemand so wunderbares wie Frieda in ihrem Leben zu haben! Und Wenn Sprotte sich aufregt über ihre Oma oder irgend eine andere kleine alltägliche Ungerechtigkeit, dann kriegt sie diesen Ausdruck im Gesicht und die Falte auf der Stirn und Frieda hört ihr geduldig zu, bis Sprotte fertig ist, dann streicht sie ihr die Stirn glatt und wechselt das thema zu etwas schönerem. Und wenn gar nichts hilft, dann kuscheln sie die Hühner und sitzen zusammen, bis es alles ein bisschen aushaltbarer ist. Weil egal, was sonst noch in der Welt passiert, sie haben immer einander.

One-shot, canon-verse. Technically, fighting for entertainment is against Rebellion rules, but Jyn just dares Cassian to stop her. He won’t, by the way. He enjoys watching her fight as much as anybody else, if for different reasons.

Ahhhh, there’s so much fun in this fic! Cassian making heart-eyes at a fighting Jyn is one of my jams forever. But I also really enjoyed his awareness of how his presence, as a captain, would dampen the enlisted guys’ fun. And then there’s Jyn, flirting with sass and ranks.

This is the final story in a Jyn-centric series from these two creators, where @skitzofreak wrote a story about one of Jyn’s scars and @crazy-fruit illustrated it. The whole series is worth binging, but this is the one that brings it all home, with Jyn consciously deciding to trust Cassian with the uglier parts of her past.

One-shot, canon-verse. Everybody’s partying on Endor after the Empire’s defeat, but Jyn can’t drink due to the meds she’s on. She and Cassian contemplate the fight they’ve fought, and where they might go from here.

One of the cool things about this story is the sense of emptiness after a great goal has been gained. Sure, they’re happy, but there’s also a loss of purpose that’s akin to sadness. But that leaves room for more personal goals, and the tentative, tender feeling that maybe now there’s time for them.

Hey, just wanted to drop by and tell you that I read CDBD in less than a week (full of work). Next to the obvious enjoyment I had out of the characters and especially Gen and Echo I really liked how you gave the good old zombies your own twist. Thank you for this story (and the hint that Kara might be ace)

1. How are you?

I’m quite fine - work has been managable this week and I even got to take one afternoon off that I spend with a friend at the riverside which was really lovely.

2. What would you say are your talents?

I’m a fairly good musician. Also I’d say I’m working well under high-stress conditions. 

3. If you had the chance to start your life again, would you take it?

I don’t think so - I think I’m in a very good place right now and every decision I made and everything I went through has led here, even if it was hard at times...

4. Which language would you like to speak instantly? 

Spanish (I mean I’m studying it but I wanna go to Spain next winter and I’m a little afraid I’ m not good enough) and also Ucranian (because I’m nosy as hell and would like to know what my colleagues are talking about all the time ;) 

5. Where would you like to be right now?

I’d take a week of vacation on a tropical island I guess… :D but I’m going to Nice with freinds in September so I have that to look foreward to, so my bed is fine for now ;)

6. What name would you give yourself?

Emilia. (Don’t know why, I just always gravitated towards that name) 

7. What is something you’re currently learning?

As mentioned above, Spanish. Also I’m learning Western Blot right now which is one big adventure lol...

I am still haunted by the documentry we watched in physics one day. But I see that the miniseries is getting a lot of praise.... Helps to keep in mind that the area is now a great place for wild nature

Yeah, ngl, the miniseries is pretty brutally graphic. They talk on the podcast about wanting to stay realistic and show things how they happened, without getting too gratuitous. It was still a bit much for me. But these things are important to know and understand. 

That being said, I did think the miniseries was very well done. Great performances. I would recommend it, but only if you have the stomach for it. Definitely had some trouble falling asleep last night thinking about it.

Interesting to think of it as a great place for wild nature ~ in the series they spend time showing how much wildlife they had to kill because they were radioactive. I know there are some unique photos and videos out there showing nature reclaiming parts of Pripyat.

After an explosion, the first step is to regroup. And then to rebuild. || ao3.

This is way too fucking late and I'm so sorry @crazy-fruit​, but i hope it was worth the wait!

Look at me. Jyn read the words Cassian scribbled on the piece of paper on the tray of her bed in the medbay. Next to the paper was a pair of hearing aids. Hers. Cassian reached up to touch her chin but she slapped his hand away.

“Don't touch me,” she growled, looking down at the floor. She saw him pull the paper back out of the corner of her eye.

He slid it back onto the tray. Please, Jyn.

She sighed, looking up at him. “What?”

Cassian licked his lips, raising his hands as he thought. Put them on, he signed in some mostly extinct language that they'd learned together, as a way to communicate when they were in meetings or just goofing off.

Jyn sighed, reaching out to take the stupid hearing aids from the tray in front of her. She slipped them onto her ears, closing her eyes and swallowing down the bile rising in her throat as they crackled to life.

“Better?” Cassian asked hesitantly, his voice unclear and crackling.

Jyn looked up at him, ignoring how her eyes burned with tears. “No,” she admitted, shaking her head.

Cassian stood, moving to sit down next to her on the bed. He wrapped his arms around her, pulling her against his chest. She took a shuttered breath, finally breaking down in his embrace. “It's okay,” he said, slowly rubbing his hand up and down her back.

“It's not!” She snapped, reaching up to fist her hands into his shirt. “I can't-” Her voice cracked before she could continue. She pressed her face against his chest, allowing herself to cry into the warmth of his safe embrace.

“We'll figure it out,” Cassian said, his voice muffled and a little too distant. “We always do.”

“I can't.” She shook her head, pressing herself closer to him.

“Hey,” he said softly, his tone making her relax. He pulled back slowly, reaching up to brush his thumb over her cheeks, wiping away her tears. He gave her a small smile when she took a steady breath, leaning down to kiss her forehead. He tipped her chin up, resting his forehead against hers. “You will be fine,” he promised her, reaching up to cup her cheek. “You trust me?”

Jyn sighed, nodding her head. She stayed quiet for a moment, seemingly lost in thought. “I'm with you,” she whispered, reaching down to hold his hand.

He smiled, leaning in to kiss her lips. “All the way.”
