Day 8: As things come to a head...
So as I had previously mentioned my mom had been helping the guy at the antique shop up the road.
Well on Saturday when his mother forced him out the business, she had the locks changed and gave one to my mom since she was the one opening the business. Well since he had been forced out and had no where to go right away my parents allowed him to stay with us as long as he went about the way to fix this situation with his mom and the business the right way and legally. Ma told him on Sunday night that they'd get up early and call her uncle who is an attorney. When my mom got up he was still in bed. She didn't want to wake him so she called our uncle for him, got some advice and names of attorneys who could help him. He apparently emptied out the business bank account into his personal one at 9 ish a.m. and then went back to bed til about 1:30 p.m. So his mom did tell my mom that she'd like the key back since he was staying with us and was just concerned that he'd some how sneak the key away and get into the building.
So ma wrote up the items she would be getting for partial payment, and then the prices they agreed on. She made a copy for his mom, had her sign it and make her a copy so she had one for her record. She made up an identical copy and had him sign, he then said that the price for one of the items(a sofa) was not correct and he didn't remember agreeing to that price. Luckily they discussed prices in front of my dad and he was able to vouch for the agreed upon price. He then proceeded to sit up in the shop space after (according to the step dad) he saw the step dad sitting up there waiting to meet my mom to get the key after she retrieved her items she purchased with her labor. He then didn't show back up to the house last night. According to his mom she was told by him that we are untrustworthy people and she shouldn't believe anything we say.
He then showed up tonight to stay. Walked in and said nothing to any of us. My dad waited until my niece and nephew left and then went down to the room he was staying in and knock and said he wanted to talk. He tried to invite my dad in, dad said "no I'd like you to come upstairs so Angela and I can talk to you." He told my dad he'd be up shortly. My dad asked me to come downstairs and I did, Only to hear him on the phone. So my dad after waiting for about 25-30 minutes came back down and asked him to come upstairs now because they wanted to talk to him and he still said ok and then stayed on the phone again. After about another 10 more minutes my mom came down and said they wanted to talk to him, he told her as soon as he was off the phone. She opened his door and she said no we need to speak now, he then told the person he was on the phone with that we stormed into his room while he's trying to get his things and leave. Dad told him good get your shit out of our fucking house. He then told the person on the phone to call the cops cause he feared for his life and told him to tell the cops that it was the Trapp residence they've been here a lot and that he could smell alcohol on our breath, duh its our house, we're not driving and we are allowed as of age adults to drink in our home. So ma had me call the police, it just seemed easier. I gave them this exact story and told them about the issues he's had the last couple days and the dispatcher could tell who it was based on my description of the pasted few days. Once the cops showed up, we filled them in on what was going on and he tried to tell the cops my mom had taken tables from him.
There is never anything wrong with helping anyone....but this guy has kind of reaffirmed the "don't help unless made to" clause in my book of life.
