Hi. Sorry to bother you. You know that post about fighting your father and then you mentioning a Freudian theory and a Shakespeare tragedy? I was wondering if you could elaborate of that theory? It sounds like something Freud would say, I'm just not sure which one you're referring to.

It wasnt a Shakespearean tragedy but a Greek one by Sophocles in which Oedipus unknowingly kills his father, marries his mother, and has four children with her before realising what he’s done. It’s the namesake of Freud’s Oedipus complex, which refers to the (totally bullshit) urge all men apparently have to supplant their own father as the dominant male figure - i.e. fight their father and ‘possess’ their mother (the female version being the Elektra complex which, unsurprisingly, is much more submissive, passive-aggressive and sexual because Freud was a rampant misogynist)
