Our intent is plan things out rather than just letting it happen. A detail most people won't notice is the drainage for the downspout for the gutters. It's a task that happens in the early stages of construction and if not planned out well will become a problem at the end of the project. Typically after painting is complete and landscape has started. We locate the down spouts on the roofing plan, check the elevations for conflicts at siding and trim details. We're specifically looking at the trim details around windows and outside corners. From the elevations we locate exactly where we want the downspouts located and transfer the dimensions over to the foundation plan. Starting a new project this week. The house closed escrow on Friday. And on Monday we are starting the demo and framing for a new 12’ bi-folding door. The door is a 4 panel bi-folding door from La Cantina Doors and windows. Watch the progress as we unfold the installation of the door and bringing the outdoors in. Our client has asked us to help them get their out swing Anderson Doors repaired. Fortunately it appears that they will be covered by Anderson’s warranty. If you ever find your self in this situation and need to contact your manufacturer. Be prepared to provide them with as much information as possible. Usually the doors will be marked on the top or side edge of the door with a metal plate and in this case the stamp was in the bottom left of the glass pane. This stamp has the information of what style the door is and when it was manufactured. Warranties are so important, understand what your warranty includes when you purchase products. In the process of doing a quantity take off for an estimate. Creating budgets for a custom home based on a hand sketch isn’t always the easiest. Very important at this stage of the design as it will give the owner an idea what the costs will be. This will allow them to make changes to the design if necessary.
