#creating is hard

writing can be exhausting and lonely and very difficult

tossing one's writing into the void of the internet can be daunting and draining and all too silent

but creating something with our all too human brains is huge

and taking the step of sharing what we've created with other humans is huge

regardless of kudos or comments, I dearly hope something I've written brings a smile to someone's face or a bit of laughter to their day

because each reader is a fellow human also navigating this brutal world, and any time they're willing to give to others' creations should be celebrated no matter how vocal they are <3

Having a scene or plot idea I really want to write and then starting to write it only to realise I have to build it up before I can actually write The Good Shit™

I get so self conscious about the stuff I write like. is it too weird? is it stupid or badly written or just a bad idea? I need to like. learn how to not worry about that, cause y'all end up liking it anyway so all that worry and self doubt is for nothing.

Art is really fucking hard.

Like, I have a square on my Bucky Barnes Bingo that is “Art style: realism” and so I spend like an hour and a half in gimp and, by the end of it, what I have is a splodgy mess that looks nothing like Bucky.

After an hour and a half of writing I have, like... 3000 words. That’s an entire scene. By the time you finish writing 3000 words you have moved the plot forwards, you have developed characters and relationships. You have usually learnt something about your plot you didn’t know before, because plots are as tricksy as hobbits.

But an hour and a half of drawing and I have a mess that could appear to be in the shape of a man, if you squint.

Art is really fucking hard.
