rainy day with the god of distortion

a/n: So sorry if it seems rushed, even tho it totally was 😓, a lot of things have been coming up in my life irl, so i've been way busier than expected, hopefully you at least find this enjoyable! feel free to tell me what you thought 💭!

It was supposed to be a nice peaceful picnic.

Just you, Giratina, and a basket full of delicious food.

A recipe for a perfect evening with your best friend, what could go wrong?

Everything.

Everything went wrong.

You hadn't thought to check the weather beforehand, so you hadn't even thought of bringing an umbrella, or having a picnic near a shelter of some kind.

So the food was soaked.

You were soaked.

Giratina was probably soaked

...

Where was Girantina?

You really hoped he hadn't bolted the moment he felt the rain, but you wouldn't blame him.

After all this was probably the first time he had ever encountered rain.

Turning around you prayed that he would at least be nearby.

Not that it would be hard to notice an entire god.

You immediately saw him, crouching in the long grass and...

and playing in the mud?

That completely caught you off guard.

You couldn't help it, despite the situation you burst out in laughter at the sight of Giratina, the god of distortion, rolling in the mud like a Growlithe, tongue lolling out the side of his mouth as he bathed himself in mud.

Then the thought of giving him a bath once you got home entered your mind, nearly spoiling your pleasant mood.

But then Giratina stood up, and made his way towards you, each step causing a mini earthquake as he edged.

Lowering his head so that you were both (mostly) eye level, he gently grabbed you by the back of your shirt so that he could swing you onto his back and launched into the air - you barely had time to react as you let a shriek and clung onto one of the golden ringlets that surrounded his neck.

It seemed he wanted you to enjoy the sensation of rain with him, which was really sweet-

"AHH-" you shouted, desperately holding on as Giratina maneuvered (rather clumsily, you couldn't help but notice) through the air, snapping desperately at the sky.

And then you realized what he was doing.

'He's trying to catch the raindrops, how cute!' you thought, a smile making it's way across your lips as you tried holding back yet another laugh.

Carefully shifting your position so that you could at least not worry about falling off, you noticed his expression.

Now Giratina wasn't one to be expressive, he was mostly reserved, which didn't mean he didn't enjoy your company, he did.

Expressing every new emotion that he felt wasn't natural for him he was a god, expressing emotion wasn't ever really required of him.

But this was clearly different.

His usually slitted red eyes were wide and shining with excitement.

Mouth wide open as he continued his endeavour of trying to catch as many raindrops as he could.

You smiled fondly at him and his clearly happy disposition, he had gone through quite a bit, especially when Palkia and Dialga joined the fray.

Thankfully, after many months of suffering from trust issues and fear of abandonment, he had been able to slowly start trusting you, and you were able to do nice things like this with him.

Seeing him so carefree and joyful warmed your heart.

All those nights you stayed up late by his side to comfort him from the nightmares he faced.

All those months you searched for a bigger place to live so that he wouldn't be cramped, and had space to run free.

All those days you had spent searching for food that he'd like just to find out he technically didn't need to eat, but thoroughly enjoyed Nanab and Razz berries.

All that time spent guaranteeing Giratina could live the best life he possibly could was worth it, for this moment, just this.

Seeing him so happy and free brought tears to your eyes.

Wiping them with your sleeve you patted his neck, shouting over the wind you said

"Giratina! Take your time - let's enjoy this, ok?"

"Graghh!" he roared back, doing a mini twirl in the sky due to his exctiement

Grinning, you raised your fist to the sky

"Alright, then...let's go!"

I translated and analyzed the leaked Pokemon Theogony diagram!

Here's the non-spoiler version from the Sinjoh ruins Arceus event! The leaked spoiler version with specific and leaked names is below the cut!

Things to note:

1) Tex is Regigigas maybe because it sounds like "Tectonic" + "Rex"? Since it moves the continents? (Dumb joke about how the Regi family can be found below Clay's Driftveil City in B2W2)

2) Despite appearences, the notes say the pink circle is for the god of time, and the blue one is for the god of space- could be cool to see Dialga and Palkia with swapped colors! Also note that Giratina isn't in the original version, but has a circle for it awkwardly added in the final version.

3) Pseudos have their own section- weird that Latias, Latios, and Gyarados are Pseudos but Salamence isn't. They're all bunched up in a section called "Supporting Legendaries". The three gen 4 placeholders for "Dahabu", "Saan", and "Gordon" could be for Garchomp and two other lesser legendaries like Cresselia and Darkrai or something. Or since they omitted Salamence, they could also not include Garchomp and the circle could be for something like Heatran instead.

4) Note that "Supporting Legendaries" are different from the birds, beasts, and regis, which are called "Servant Legendaries".

5) Also "Smilay" (Smile>Gratitude>Shaymin) and "Birthly" (Egg/Phione>Manaphy) are my speculations on the mythicals, but no confirmation, obviously.

6) Also there's a decent chance most of this is now moot since this diagram is from 2005 and we've had over 5 generations since then.
