Creative Funk: “Ready Made Family” b/w “Funk Power” (1972)
A jazz / funk and soul ensemble that released only a handful of 7″ singles in the Seventies. “Funk Power” landed in our lap through the Crate Diggers group a few years ago and we didn’t place it until now. The B-side, a brass cacophony of rising funk reminiscent of The Beginning Of The End and strong choruses will forever remind us of last summer of seventeen Omega WUSB broadcasts, and its inclusion into our quarterly vinyl treasures showcase made it all the apparent.
You know that machine from the end of Wheel in Space which the Doctor uses to weave his memories of the Daleks into a ‘kind of story’ that he projects onto a screen to show Zoe (which just so happened to lead into a repeat of Evil of the Daleks on the original broadcast)?
Yeah, can someone invent that and give it to me that so I can just project my fic ideas into existence without having to write them?!
Internet
Anyone else feel like you’re bored on the Internet but you shouldn’t be bored on the Internet and you really don’t want to keep spending time on the Internet because it just reminds you of your creative funk and nothing is currently motivating you on the Internet?
blech indeed. sometimes ya gotta battle your way out of that creative funk. (currently working on that) PS - no joke, that URL gag cost me $12.17 on godaddy. (:^[
I do NOT apologize for that spam. Those two still make me happy. They should, since I've been shipping them for damn near 20 years, now.
Anywho. I sometimes spam my OTPs from years past, especially when I'm in major funks. They (sometimes) help alleviate that.
I'm desperately trying to get out of this creative funk and if getting slightly obsessed over an old ship helps me out, even a little, I'll fucking welcome it.
Especially if I can then move that energy to my WoLship.
me: Hey, let's come up with some fun new ideas for those little relatable comics I post on instagram :)
my brain: *only produces depressing ideas that make me look like a sad self depricating pretentious blob who wallows in self-pity all day*
me: Hmmmaybe we should....We....Well, let's just do it another time.
