North Park Mall Home And Garden Show 2004 - Marion, Indiana

The day the flowers arrived from Puerto Rico the first step was to unbox them and soak them in my bathtub. I filled my bathtub up with lukewarm water, laid the flowers – blooms and all – in the water and then cut the stems under water at an angle. I allowed them to lay and soak for about an hour before I removed them and placed them in containers filled with warm water. They sat overnight in these containers in my bathtub so the flowers could dry and the stems could soak up as much water as they needed to. The next day they were take to the North Park Mall in Marion, Indiana where members of the local garden clubs were waiting to use them in floral arrangements.

These are photos of both the process of creating a floral arrangement and some of the finished bouquets.

The show was a success with many asking if the Heliconia flowers were real. Yes, they certainly were! Thank you Bryan Brunner for sending these beautiful flowers to me so that many could enjoy them and some who had never seen such beautiful flowers with so many amazing colors had the opportunity. Some of the flowers included in the arrangements above are Heliconia and Ginger. Here are a few more photos from that day.
