SINE THETA MAGAZINE IS HIRING!

Sine Theta Magazine is looking to expand its editorial team! To keep pace with the growth of our publication, we are looking to fulfill the positions of Web Content Intern and Print Design Intern.

The Web Content Intern will provide content-writing and research support for the daily Sino arts blog on Tumblr and help manage sinθ’s social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram).

The Print Design Intern will provide graphic design support to the Art Director and other members of Sine Theta staff as needed for the quarterly print issue as well as the magazine’s online presence.

Applications will be considered until April 30, 2019 on a rolling basis. Each position requires a commitment of a minimum 3 month period. Each position has the potential to become permanent if editors are impressed with interns’ attitude and performance.

Find creative internships that pay above the living wage in NYC.

Hello @sinetheta​ readers! 

We'd like to share a great resource that one of our editors came upon: a site that keeps track of creative arts internship opportunities in New York City that pay their interns at or above living wage.

Completed Infographic

As with the first infographic design, this was also created for print with a CMYK colour space using Illustrator.

There was another aspect to this internship, whereby I had to interview students for promotional material.  However I don’t feel it is appropriate (or fair) to share these recordings or the transcripts publicly.

Design Assets

I created some backgrounds for the second infographic, in Photoshop.  I felt an old paper design would match the theme best, so produced a light and dark version. 

The globe was adapted from another project and the client was pleased with this being used as the main focal point in the infographic.  This asset was also created in Photoshop.

I felt that a scroll design would fit in best with the vintage global theme I was using for the infographic.  As a contrast to the globe artwork, a simple, vector style banner was created in Illustrator.

I had to include company logos in my infographic, most of which were easily sourced from online and adjusted to meet the project requirements.  However, Study China had no logo presence online.  I eventually found a tiny version of the above design in an official document produced by Study China.  Since the logo was too small to be used in the design, I had to redraw it as closely to the original logo as possible.  This was created in Illustrator.

The final image is the first draft of the infographic, showing intended themes, images and font.  This was produced in Photoshop.

Second Infographic

I was asked to create another infographic, which conveyed a lot more information than the first.  The client suggested a global theme would fit the information best, so I started by producing this mood board and colour scheme.

Infographic Flyer Design

This is the completed infographic design, which was produced as a double-sided flyer.  Since this was created for print, the colour space was originally CMYK and saved as a print ready .pdf format document.

I created some design assets in Photoshop before compiling everything together for the infographic in Illustrator.

Illustrator Design Assets

After research, I decided that I would be using Illustrator to create the infographic with a K-Pop design influence.  I started creating some design assets in Illustrator that I felt would be appropriate for the infographic.  Each design element has three versions which have different line weights and effects.  I let the client choose which version they liked best for the infographic design.
