internship description: • manage social media presence on facebook, twitter, tumblr, etsy, instagram, and pinterest and contribute/solicit original online content (video, photography, blog postings) • improve and help manage website • reach out to local & national media (arts blogs, magazines, newspapers) • help organize launch parties, readings, typing bees, and workshops • help come up with innovative fundraising ideas and scout out grant opportunities interns will have the opportunity to work from home the majority of the time and to set their own schedule, with the expectation that an average of 5 hours per week is spent on this work. the hours per week will vary depending on the time of year, and we are looking for an intern who can be flexible with this as well, i.e. willing to put in more time during the busy seasons, and comfortable with having less responsibility during more quiet periods. this is an unpaid internship, but interns will gain valuable experience working for a 501(c)3 literary journal and will never be asked to fetch coffee. those interested in applying should submit: • a resume • a cover letter stating why they would like to intern with harlequin creature and how they envision a stronger digital media presence compatible with a journal of strongly analogue principles. • examples of past or current work on blogs and social media sites (as a list of links). a selected intern will work for a 6-week trial period beginning in january 2015, after which we will discuss together whether both parties would like to continue, and for what length of time (preferably 1 year minimum). please send resume and statement to [email protected] by november 30. shortlisted candidates will be contacted for an interview.
