For some odd reason I continue to find myself looking for someone to recuse. I see someone who is lost and broken and all I want to do is help them out of this darkness, let them know they’re not alone. However, I’ve recently learned you can’t pull someone into the light if they’re not afraid of the dark. He didn’t want out so I jumped back into the darkness and lit myself on fire in the hope that some light would shine through. I burnt myself to the ground and watched the light dwindle. The darkness he was trapped in began to consume me as well. I didn’t recognize myself anymore and shortly after, he saw what I had become in the hope to save him. The blazing light I once had was no longer big enough to warm him as well, so he left me alone in a broken heap and I was back to picking up the pieces of another broken me. But after he left, my light came back, stronger than ever with a few battle scars and new lesson: You can’t rescue someone who doesn’t want to be saved.
